Child Dignity Strategy

On 6 October 2017, attendees of the World Congress: Child Dignity in the Digital World presented the Declaration of Rome to Pope Francis. The Declaration states: “In this era of the internet, the world faces unprecedented challenges in preserving the rights and dignity of children and protecting them from abuse and exploitation. These challenges require new thinking, innovative approaches, heightened global awareness, and inspired leadership.”

Pope Francis welcomed the Declaration, remarking, “In the Declaration you presented to me, you have identified a variety of ways to promote concrete cooperation among all parties working to address the great challenge of defending the dignity of minors in the digital world. I firmly and enthusiastically support the commitments you have undertaken.”

The Centre for Child Protection at the Pontifical Gregorian University, in partnership with the WeProtect Global Alliance and SOS Il Telefono Azzurro Onlus, used the Declaration of Rome as a foundation to build a coalition of committed partners, transforming its general goals into global action.

During the World Congress, attendees participated in ten parallel workshops to explore new and innovative solutions. The Strategic Plan presents those solutions.
